Sometimes life brings us moments we could never have imagined — and yet, they become the ones we remember most vividly. This summer, I found myself unexpectedly stepping onto the grand stage of the World Cup Floral Art 2025 in The Hague, representing Armenia in place of my dear colleague and student, Arman Voskanyan.
Until the very last moment, Arman hoped to compete in person. His designs were ready down to the smallest detail, his constructions carefully built, and his flowers already waiting in the Netherlands. But due to circumstances beyond his control, he was unable to travel. In a heartfelt message, he entrusted me to carry forward the work we had prepared together.
So, in a whirlwind of hours, everything changed. Suddenly, I was no longer only a coach but also the competitor — supported on stage by my husband and assistant, Alexey Bulatov. Though our participation was outside the official scoring program, the experience was no less real, no less challenging, and no less meaningful.
The audience’s response was overwhelming. Even without the competition’s evaluations, the works we presented — born from months of collaboration, infused with Arman’s philosophy and my own hands — drew attention, curiosity, and warm support.
Yes, it was sudden. Yes, it was logistically difficult. And yet, it was unforgettable. To stand there, in the heart of international floriculture, representing not only myself but also Arman and the vision we crafted together, was an honour I will always treasure.
For me it was more than a performance. It was a celebration of friendship, artistry, and the spirit of floristry itself.
